Description
Useful chiral synthon, building block for depsipeptides.L-Lactic acid is an intermediate in the fermentation of sugar. It plays a vital role in several biochemical processes. It is a major ingredient in processed foods such as yogurt, cottage cheeses, koumiss and kombucha. It gives the sour flavor to sourdough breads. It finds application in pharmaceuticals to prepare water-soluble lactates, topical preparations and cosmetics. It acts as a food preservative, flavoring agent, curing agent, descaler, soap-scum remover and an anti-bacterial agent. It is an active component of lactated Ringer's solution and Hartmann's solution. Further, it is used for fluid resuscitation after blood loss due to trauma and surgery.

Gibt den sauren Geschmack von Sauerteigbroten. Findet Anwendung in Pharmazeutika zur Herstellung wasserlöslicher Laktate, topischer Präparate und Kosmetika. Dient als Konservierungsmittel, Aromastoff, Härtemittel, Entkalker, Seifenschlammentferner und antibakterieller Wirkstoff. Ist ein aktiver Bestandteil der laktierten Ringers-Lösung und der Hartmanns-Lösung. Wird darüber hinaus für die Flüssigkeitsreanimation nach Blutverlust durch Trauma und Operationen verwendet.
