Beschreibung
Thymol is used as a preservative in halothane. It acts as an anesthetic, antiseptic in mouth wash, stabilizer in pharmaceutical preparations. It inhibits the growth and lactate production as well as reduces the uptake of cellular glucose within the bacteria. It is an active ingredient in toothpastes like euthymol. It is involved to control varroa mites and prevent fermentation and the growth of mold in bee colonies.

Thymol wird als Konservierungsmittel in Halothan verwendet. Es dient als Narkosemittel, wirkt antiseptisch in Mundspülungen und ist ein Stabilisator in pharmazeutischen Präparaten. Es hemmt das Wachstum und die Laktatproduktion und reduziert die zelluläre Aufnahme von Glukose in Bakterien. Es ist ein Wirkstoff in Zahnpasten wie Euthymol. Es dient der Bekämpfung von Varroamilben und verhindert die Fermentation und das Wachstum von Schimmelpilzen in Bienenvölkern.
Löslichkeit
Schwer in Wasser löslich. In Chloroform, Alkohol und Äther löslich.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln und Basen.
