Tetramethylammonium hydroxide pentahydrate is used in analytical chemistry as an ion pairing agent and a polarographic reagent. It finds application in gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), capillary isotachophoresis and capillary zone electrophoresis and liquid chromatography. Furthermore, it is utilized in the preparation of iron oxide nanoparticles which are useful as magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and tetramethylammonium dithiocarboxylates. It acts as a developer or an etchant in semiconductor and photoelectric industries.

Anwendungen
Tetramethylammoniumhydroxid Pentahydrat wird in der analytischen Chemie als Ionenpaar-Mittel und als polarographisches Reagenz verwendet. Es findet Anwendung in der Gaschromatographie/Massenspektrometrie (GC/MS), der Kapillarisotachophorese und der Kapillarzonenelektrophorese und Flüssigkeitschromatographie. Darüber hinaus wird es bei der Herstellung von Eisenoxid-Nanopartikeln verwendet, die als Kontrastmittel für die Magnetresonanztomographie und Tetramethylammoniumdithiocarboxylate nützlich sind. Sie fungiert als Entwickler oder als Ätzmittel in der Halbleiter- und photoelektrischen Industrie.

Löslich in Wasser und Methanol.

Hinweise
Luftempfindlich. Hygroskopisch. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln und starken Säuren.
