Behenic acid is used to give hair conditioners and moisturizers their smoothing properties. It is also used to investigate the phase behavior of long-chain acids in supercritical propane.

AnwendungenBehensäure wird verwendet, um Haarpflegemitteln und Feuchtigkeitscremes ihre Glättungseigenschaften zu verleihen. Auch zur Untersuchung des Phasenverhaltens von langkettigen Säuren in überkritischem Propan verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Löslich in DMF (∼3 mg/ml), heißem Methanol, Wasser (0,15 mg/ml bei 25 °C), Chloroform und Ethanol (2,18 mg/ml bei 25 °C).
Hinweise
An einem kühlen Ort aufbewahren. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Reduktionsmitteln und Basen. Bei Raumtemperatur lagern.
