(3-Mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane is used as a capping molecule for cadmium sulphide nanocrystals. It is used in the preparation of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and bilayer modified gold electrode. It acts as a linker molecule used in the preparation of gold multilayers and as a molecular adhesive in the fabrication of vapor-deposited gold electrodes on glass substrates. It is also used as a precursor for silica.

(3-Mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilan wird als Verschlussmolekül für Cadmiumsulfid-Nanokristalle verwendet. Es wird bei der Herstellung von mehrwandigen Kohlenstoff-Nanoröhrchen und zweischichtigen modifizierten Goldelektroden verwendet. Es fungiert als Linkermolekül, das bei der Herstellung von mehreren Goldschichten und als molekularer Klebstoff bei der Herstellung von dampfabgelagerten Goldelektroden auf Glassubstraten verwendet wird. Es wird auch als Vorläufer für Kieselgel verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Methanol, Ethanol, Isopropanol, Aceton, Benzol, Toluol und Xylol.
Hinweise
Luft- und feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, starken Säuren, Alkoholen und Wasser. Es zersetzt sich in Wasser.
